Agents from the National Police have apprehended two individuals linked to two violent thefts that occurred at a hotel and a supermarket in southern Tenerife.
The suspected thieves entered a supermarket in La Caleta (Adeje) concealing their identities, donning gloves and wielding a large machete. Following the robbery, they escaped on a motorcycle that had been stolen the previous day in the Adeje area.
The authorities discovered several items connected to the incidents, along with the stolen motorcycle, in a remote location inaccessible to vehicles, close to the supermarket, as indicated by a statement from the National Police.
Through the examination of the supermarket’s CCTV footage and subsequent investigations, the officers were able to identify the individual responsible for the theft and his accomplice.
The modus operandi of the supermarket theft led to inquiries that clarified another violent theft that took place this summer at a hotel in southern Tenerife.
In that case, the culprit employed the same machete, wore a motorcycle helmet to obscure his face, and donned comparable attire to execute the robbery, fleeing on another stolen motorcycle with his accomplice, whom they left behind after committing the offences in the vicinity of the hotel.
The investigation enabled authorities to establish physical correlations between the criminals involved in both robberies, and after thorough efforts by the officers, they succeeded in accumulating sufficient evidence to detain the alleged offenders.
Both suspects have been remanded to the appropriate judicial authority on charges of two counts of robbery with violence and intimidation, with one having a previous conviction for robbery with force.
