SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE December 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Education Ministry of the Canary Islands Government has announced that lessons will recommence this Tuesday on the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro following the cancellation of educational activities on Monday due to the impact of storm ‘Dorothy’.
Consequently, closures will remain in effect only for the unitary schools of Las Manchas (ten students) and Jedey (twelve) on La Palma, where strong winds have dispersed ash from the nearby Tajogaite volcano and caused some damage that is currently being addressed.
Furthermore, the Ministry has decided that, owing to the sea conditions in the region, classes at the Ignacio Aldecoa Compulsory Education Centre (CEO) in La Graciosa, where fifty students are enrolled, will be conducted in a non-presential format tomorrow.
Nevertheless, the department led by Poli Suárez is continuing to monitor the situation in case it needs to implement further measures for specific areas or establishments in the upcoming hours.
Despite the severe wind gusts recorded in recent times, only minor incidents have been reported across seven centres: four in Tenerife, one in El Hierro and two in La Palma.
