SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 December (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Canary Islands has announced the suspension of school activities, including both educational and non-educational, on Monday, 16 December, in El Hierro, La Gomera and the Tenerife municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tegueste, Tacoronte, Candelaria, and El Rosario, due to forecasts of strong wind gusts potentially reaching 120 km/h.
The regional department reported this in a statement, adding that the suspension may be extended in the coming hours to additional areas within Tenerife.
Consequently, the Ministry has urged the public to remain vigilant for any updates as the situation develops.
Via the General Directorate of Emergencies, the Government of the Canary Islands is maintaining a maximum alert for exceptionally strong and potentially hurricane-force winds that may hit 120 kilometres per hour across the islands of El Hierro, La Gomera, and parts of Tenerife.
