The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council through the Public Services sector, announces a series of enhancements for the maintenance and improvement of the hydraulic and electrical systems at the Plaza de España lake, aimed at enhancing its functionality and modernising its facilities. These projects, which commenced last November, encompass interventions in the hydraulic, electromechanical, and lighting systems of this iconic public area.
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasises the significance of these improvements for the city. “The lake in the Plaza de España is one of our most iconic spaces and its upkeep and modernisation are crucial for ensuring the quality of the public services we provide to our citizens. These enhancements will not only optimise the hydraulic and electrical systems but also enhance the surrounding environment, contributing to making Santa Cruz a more modern and sustainable city.”
Additionally, the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, highlights the dedication of the City Council to maintaining municipal infrastructure in top condition. “The work being carried out on the lake in the Plaza de España is yet another demonstration of this administration’s commitment to improving our public spaces. The total investment of 65,300 euros will ensure enhanced operation of the facility and a marked improvement in the experience for those who enjoy this unique setting.”
A key component of the enhancements includes the disassembly and repair of the lake’s delivery and transfer pumps, along with the replacement of various hydraulic parts. The solenoid valves will also be disassembled and replaced, whilst new power inverters for the different pumps will be installed. The renewal of these hydraulic components carries a total cost of 15,300 euros, improving system efficiency and ensuring proper long-term functionality.
In addition to the hydraulic system upgrades, a significant refurbishment of the lake’s lighting is underway. A new LED lighting system with colour-changing technology is being installed both within and around the lake, which will furnish this area with a more appealing and contemporary atmosphere.
Furthermore, the electrical control and protection panels are being modernised, and the installation’s wiring is being refreshed. The lighting refurbishment involves an investment of 50,000 euros, which will enhance energy efficiency and improve the visual appeal of the lake.
The Santa Cruz City Council reaffirms its commitment to the upkeep of the city’s public areas, ensuring the quality and sustainability of the infrastructures that are part of the urban heritage. Upon completion of the enhancements, local residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a revitalised and more efficient space.
