Cycling Pros Unite for the 2025 Fred.Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike Event

The elite cycling community of the Canary Islands is set to converge for the tenth edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2025. So far, over 230 cyclists have signed up for this competition in the early weeks, featuring notable athletes such as Blas Rivero (Z2 Bike), the Romanian residing in Gran Canaria, Manuela Muresan (BikeXpert Superbet), Nestor Rodriguez (RIU Team), and Luna Perdomo (DRoute Bike Club). The event, which will be part of the UCI international calendar for the third consecutive year, is scheduled to occur from May 15 to 18, maintaining the established format of four open stages, albeit with some new route innovations.

Among those confirmed for this edition is the previously mentioned Manuela Muresan, who has claimed victory in two editions (2020 and 2022) and secured fourth place in 2024. She returns with “great enthusiasm” for 2025, stating that “to wear the leader’s jersey again would be fantastic, but this is a UCI race with the world’s top competitors at the starting line, so it will indeed be a challenge.”

Blas Rivero, the leading Canarian in the last edition and ninth overall, emphasises, “I will be in peak condition since this date aligns with several objectives, including the Transgrancanaria Bike, where I aim to perform better than last year”. He also mentioned the significant new element of this edition compared to prior years.

The local elite will also contend with other formidable competitors, including Nestor Rodriguez (RIU TEAM), Isabel Castro (BIKE POINT TENERIFE), Gabriel Perez (AXIAL BIKE), Cathaysa María Sánchez (BIKE POINT TENERIFE), Guzman Naughty (GE7 BIKE ARUCAS), Luna Perdomo (DROUTE BIKE CLUB), Miguel Limiñana (BTP), Vanessa Lessa, Elizabeth Breval (GE7 BIKE ARUCAS), Aristides Gonzalez (SEVEN PRO SPORT), and Isabel Campos Marrero (LORO PARK SILOS).

The Fred. Olsen Transgrancanaria Bike will repeat the format of four open stages, with participants able to join all of them (All Stages) or choose individually. The first stage is set for Thursday, May 15, departing from Águila Canyon; covering 45.6 kilometres with a positive elevation gain of 740 metres to kick off the adventure. On Friday, the Crono will take place, starting from Parque Sur to Ayagaures; this stage features 23.5 kilometres of sheer excitement with 608 metres of positive elevation gain. The long-awaited XCO will unfold on the third day from the Barranco de Maspalomas; it comprises a circuit of 5.5 kilometres and 700 metres of elevation to be completed in six laps, totaling 33 kilometres. Rounding off the weekend, athletes will tackle the longest and steepest stage; spanning 69.7 kilometres and a positive slope of 1,261 metres, starting and finishing at Parque Sur de Maspalomas. This final stage will also offer registration for the E-Bike category, commencing from Ayagaures and concluding at Parque Sur.

Registration for this thrilling edition is still open on the official race website (www.transgrancanariabike.com).

The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, organised by Arista Eventos, is sponsored by Fred. Olsen Express. Furthermore, it receives support from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, via the Gran Canaria Tourism institutions and the Insular Sports Institute, along with backing from the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Latitud de Vida initiative. The Town Hall of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Maspalomas Costa Canaria also lend their support. Additionally, the event is backed by companies including 226ERS, Gobik, Emicela, Pepsi, Aguas de Teror, Lorenzo González Automoción, Gofio La Piña, Sonocom, Provital, and Inetel.
