Personnel from the Aquatic Activities Group of the Civil Guard discovered a body this Wednesday in the vicinity where they were conducting a search for a fisherman who was swept into the sea after being carried away by a wave along the coast of Las Eras, in the Tenerife municipality of Fasnia, as reported by sources from the armed institute to EFE.
Indicators suggest that it may be the same individual, although full identification of the body is still pending, according to sources.
Upon receiving a report that a fisherman had been taken by a wave, the emergency services at 112 activated a rescue operation, involving the Fasnia Beach Rescue unit, Local Police, Civil Guard, firefighters, and Maritime Rescue teams.
Furthermore, a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Canary Islands Government was dispatched, and an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service also assisted in the operation.
