Tenerife Paragliders Plunge into Ravine, Sustaining Injuries

Two paragliders, aged 72 and 62, sustained varying degrees of injuries after plummeting into a ravine in Adeje, situated in the south of Tenerife, as reported by the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre, 1-1-2.

The incident occurred on Monday in the Taucho ravine of the same municipality. A helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group of the Canary Islands Government (GES) was dispatched to the scene, where they rescued both individuals. After providing them with initial care, they were subsequently transferred to the helipad of the Adeje Volunteer Firefighters.

The firefighters then assisted in moving the two individuals from the GES helicopter to a sanitised ambulance belonging to the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). Health personnel assessed that the 72-year-old man suffered a fracture in his upper limb and moderate chest trauma, necessitating his transfer to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.

The 62-year-old man received treatment for minor bruising at the site of the incident, attended to by SUC personnel.

Members of the Civil Guard also arrived at the location of the accident and completed the necessary reports.
