The Cabildo has incorporated three items totalling over 13.5 million euros in the 2025 island budget to commence work on the proposed motor circuit located in the Atogo area within the Granadilla municipality. The budget, reported by Europa Press, allocates 13.3 million euros for the initial phase of the complex, 100,000 euros for phase two concerning the northern access routes, and an additional 104,328 euros for the development of the international park.

The motor circuit, approved during the last administration by CC, PP, and PSOE, accounts for slightly more than 17% of the investment allocated to the mobility sector, which totals 78.4 million euros. The Corporation has awarded the construction contract for the Motor Circuit to the Temporary Business Union (UTE) Sacyr Construction SA-Contratas y Servicios Bahillo SL, at a cost of 44,165,489 euros, with an estimated duration of approximately 40 months.

The project entails the channeling of three ravines along with the construction of removable stands, the speed track, a parking area, and an autocross circuit. During the preliminary works in the area, the company identified protected species and potential archaeological remains, prompting them to forward this information to the Cabildo for assessment regarding the necessity of a new environmental impact declaration.

STRATEGIC PROJECTS

The Corporation has also allocated just over 1.2 million euros in the island budget for the processing and advancement of strategic projects of island significance, representing a 12.9% increase compared to this year.

In total, the Cabildo has recognised eight strategic projects: Puerto de la Cruz marina; DISA-Granadilla; project SP1-01, Granadilla Industrial Estate; the cinema city of Adeje; expansion of Tenerife South airport; Guía de Isora marine theme park, and three newly incorporated projects such as the new Insular Matadero, the Añaza social and health centre, and the review of the Puerto de la Cruz Modernisation Plan.

Regarding the Slaughterhouse project, the budget report highlights its “special importance”, indicating that the majority of processing and approval will occur in 2025. The modernisation plan for Puerto de la Cruz examines provisions, equipment, and infrastructure deemed “absolutely relevant” for the municipality’s development. Moreover, the project processing for a new social and health centre in Añaza has commenced to address the “serious deficits” in the public provision of social and health services for the elderly.
