SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 4 December (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Lope Afonso, dismissed any “speculation” regarding a potential change in shareholders of CD Tenerife and has confined the corporation’s involvement to the sports sponsorship agreement.
“Our function is to provide support and to sustain our confidence in the sporting capabilities of the organisation, its team, and its coaching staff, to rectify the path and ensure another season in professional football,” he stated at a press conference to announce the decisions of the Government Council.
Consequently, he mentioned that they have already undertaken the necessary actions to maintain the sponsorship that supports the entity, ensuring that this financial aid aids in promoting and broadcasting the island’s name along with some “return.”
“I believe that is the role the Cabildo must uphold, rather than engaging in speculations that certainly do not contribute positively to the image and institutional interpretation of a club that causes us all concern to see in this predicament at this time, and I trust that our shared objective is to rectify this declining sporting situation as swiftly as possible,” he remarked.
