The La Orotava City Council, led by Deisy Ramos from the Commerce Department, has announced a new edition of the Christmas Window and Facade Competition. This event is part of the various activities organised by the City Council to celebrate the festive season and aims to encourage the decoration of local shops with seasonal themes. The registration window is currently open and will close on 14th December.

The municipality’s mayor, Francisco Linares, highlights that this contest aims to promote and appreciate local commerce, where customer interaction is personalised, while also creating a festive and welcoming ambience on our streets. In this spirit, businesses will be able to enter with decorations for both their shop windows and the facades of their premises, which need to be completed by 14th December; from that date until the 31st of the same month, the judges will conduct their evaluations.

The councillor for the area has noted that the competition rules, which can be reviewed on the municipal website www.laorotava.es, stipulate that the decorations should remain on display until 5th January. The judging panel will consider the lighting, which should be illuminated until at least 10:00 p.m. during the contest period, and will assess originality, complexity, craftsmanship, creativity, Christmas aesthetics, integration of merchandise, and overall commercial appeal.

Interested businesses may register by emailing commerce@villadelaorotava.org, including their commercial name, address, type of business, contact number, representative details, and the category they wish to enter, whether it be shop windows, facades, or both.

Three awards will be given out, comprising accreditation diplomas, along with a special public award that allows residents to vote through the Department of Commerce’s Instagram profile: @comerciolaorotava, until 5th January.
