This morning, the magnificent pink tide against breast cancer surged through the south of Tenerife, bringing with it a wave of hope and solidarity.

Thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds and ages answered once again to the charitable appeal of the Canarian foundation Race for Life. They participated in a vibrant day that began early with activities catering to all audiences, which included dancing, choreographies, a 360-degree photo booth, face painting, and a massive display of balloons.

“I am astonished by the ability to draw in such a crowd and by the commendable spirit of the participants,” remarked the journalist just moments before the walk commenced. Yaiza Diaz, the godmother for this nineteenth edition, urged that institutional representatives offer substantial backing, “beyond mere affection,” to enhance treatments for patients battling the disease.

Meanwhile, Brigitte Gypen, president of the Carrera por la Vida Foundation, expressed gratitude for the extensive popular backing, alongside institutional and corporate support. After requesting a “very special round of applause” for the foundation’s dedicated volunteers, she emphasised the crucial role of medical check-ups in preventing the illness: “Early detection saves lives, that is the key message today and every day.”

Shortly thereafter, the blare of a fire truck’s siren signalled the start of the march.
