The individual apprehended last Sunday in Granadilla, located in southern Tenerife, for having attempted to murder his partner, has been discovered deceased at the Municipal Police station where he was held.
Sources from the Civil Guard have verified to EFE the man’s death but have not disclosed the reasons behind it.
The accused, a 42-year-old Italian national, was detained on Sunday in the Tenerife locality of Granadilla de Abona, facing allegations of having stabbed his partner in the head and chest in front of their one-year-old son.
The woman, who is 33 years old and of Colombian descent, required hospitalisation, while the man attempted to take his own life using the weapon, resulting in self-inflicted cuts to his neck, which also necessitated medical intervention, as reported by police sources to EFE.
