SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Maritime Rescue has saved two canoes carrying around 227 individuals in waters close to the island of El Hierro during the morning of this Tuesday, as stated by the official organisation.
The first vessel was identified by the Helimer 201 helicopter when it was roughly 28 kilometres (15 nautical miles) south of the La Restinga dock, in El Pinar (El Hierro).
Consequently, the Tenerife Rescue Control Centre dispatched the Adhara rescuer, which saved 77 individuals, including five minors, and transported them to the La Restinga dock, where they arrived at approximately 10:00 am.
Later, the sailboat Ole Pinelle detected another cayuco when it was just over 55 kilometres (30 nautical miles) from La Restinga, prompting the Tenerife control centre to deploy the Acrux rescue boat, which rescued around 150 individuals. It is currently en route to the island of El Hierro.
