This Sunday, the Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised the involvement of the Development Society in the Tourism Innovation Summit forum held in Seville, aiming to establish itself as a prominent business and conference tourism destination.
Meanwhile, Carmen Pérez, the CEO of the Development Society, stated that this edition of the Tourism Innovation Summit gathered over 221 exhibiting companies over three days, showcasing new technological products and innovative solutions tailored for the tourism industry, including advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, which are transforming how tourists plan, experience, and enjoy their travels.
Moreover, the congress, featuring insights from 416 speakers, also concentrated on sustainability, examining the strategies employed by the tourism sector to foster a more responsible and ethical approach that seeks to reduce environmental impacts.
The team from the Development Society took part in various meetings where they recognised crucial trends in the behaviour of business travellers and how these trends are being integrated into destinations, all within the context of innovation and technology.
Additionally, they had the opportunity to evaluate successful case studies in the sector, identifying fresh prospects for implementation in the infrastructure and services of Santa Cruz, with the objective of furthering growth in this field, Pérez remarked.
The event also served as a platform to enhance the visibility of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Convention Bureau, an initiative introduced in April aimed at offering free and impartial advice to professionals interested in organising meetings within the municipality.
This initiative encompasses services such as planning and organising events, along with logistical and financial support for congress candidates, in close partnership with local service providers within the MICE tourism segment.
