Last evening, the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena square was transformed into a grand open-air fashion runway, featuring a total of nine shows that highlighted local businesses and designers affiliated with the Tenerife Moda programme, dedicated to showcasing glamour at the heart of Tenerife’s capital.

Nearly 500 individuals attended this remarkable event, which seeks to combine fashion, commerce, culture, leisure, and gastronomy. For the second year, it has been celebrated under the banner of the Isla de Moda (IDM) festival, directed by designer Juan Carlos Armas and organised by the federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Facua).

Armas expressed to DIARIO DE AVISOS that “it is a privilege to resume this catwalk after a two-year hiatus, transforming Santa Cruz into a leading capital of fashion, being the municipality in the Canary Islands with the most parades and events linked to the sector, including the International Fashion Fair or Feboda, among others.”

The IDM festival aims to invigorate the city’s open shopping area and “bring businesses out into the streets.” It succeeded in uniting firms and boutiques from the urban centre in a grand, complimentary event that turned Santa Cruz into a genuine fashion catwalk.

The parade commenced with the Nok brand, followed by Adidas, Heiffel, Henko, Binkas, and Geyma. As a spectacular finale, the souvenirs collection that recently garnered acclaim for Juan Carlos Armas on the Larios catwalk in Málaga was showcased, bringing a glamorous evening to a close with the sophisticated men’s designs of José Acosta.

The evening’s opening performance was delivered by Tenerife singer Layla Melos, who enchanted the audience with an array of popular songs. It was an event brimming with elegance, hosted by Esther Gómez.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez expressed his contentment with the event, deeming it “a sure sign of success,” and he thanked Fauca and Zona Centro for their dedication in bringing these events to life, which he described as “true allies of the city’s commerce.”
