This Thursday, the Cabildo de Tenerife suspended the Tenerife Island Emergency Plan (PEIN), but advises residents to refrain from accessing the mountain due to the danger of falling trees and branches.

Accordingly, the trails leading to the Teide peak, including the Telesforo Bravo path, remain closed for safety purposes.

This decision follows the latest forecast updates released by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), as reported by the Cabildo in a statement.

The previous Wednesday, the island council declared the closure of leisure areas and camping sites and prohibited movement through wooded regions following a storm pre-warning issued by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, based on AEMET’s predictions.

The Cabildo of Tenerife urges the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel as well as access to the higher regions of the island.

Additionally, residents are advised to adhere to the self-protection guidelines established during pre-alerts, alerts, and maximum alerts to mitigate unnecessary risks.
