The events are organised by the district office and will occur throughout November, aiming to impart fundamental knowledge in emergency situations.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, via the Anaga district office led by Councillor Gladis de León, will host a series of health first aid and Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) workshops during the month of November, targeting residents within the Anaga community.

A total of 15 workshops will be held, wherein participants will be taught to assess individuals in distress and categorise them based on the severity of their condition. This understanding is essential for acquiring the skills necessary to administer first aid and effectively communicate information to the Emergency Coordination Centre, thereby enabling a proper assessment of the situation and ensuring that the appropriate resources are dispatched.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised the significance of these workshops, stating, “Firstly, they provide essential knowledge to manage a potentially serious situation involving an individual, and secondly, they are crucial for the more isolated areas in Anaga, where immediate assistance is vital prior to the arrival of healthcare services.”

The workshops will commence in the latter half of November, free of charge, at local community associations, and will be conducted by personnel from Emernatur, a company specialising in emergency and rescue operations.

On Saturday, the 16th, the workshop will occur at the Taganana Cultural Association, starting at 4:00 p.m.; on the 20th at Cueva Bermeja, also at 4:00 p.m.; on Wednesday the 20th in the Alegría neighbourhood at 6:30 p.m.; on the 22nd in Afur, beginning at 4:00 p.m.; in Los Campitos on Friday the 22nd from 7:00 p.m.; on Sunday the 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Igueste de San Andrés neighbourhood association; the Casas de La Cumbre will host the workshop on the 25th at 4:00 p.m.; on the 26th at 4:00 p.m. in El Suculum and at 6:15 p.m. in María Jiménez; San Andrés at 4:30 p.m.; and in Valleseco at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th; then at the Roque Negro centres at 4:00 p.m. and Taborno at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th; on Friday the 29th in Chamorga, starting at 4:00 p.m.; and the final workshop will take place on the 30th in Almáciga, commencing at 7:00 p.m.

The Anaga district councillor, Gladis de León, encouraged all residents to “take part in these vital workshops, as the basic knowledge imparted could indeed save many lives.”

The district office wishes to stress that through these workshops, both victims requiring assistance and those around them will receive thorough care during incidents necessitating the involvement of professionals, given the magnitude or implications of the situation.
