A blaze that erupted early this Thursday afternoon on a farm in the municipality of La Laguna has necessitated the evacuation of the farm’s personnel as a precautionary measure. CEIP El Ortigal, which is situated nearby, has also been affected.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety, Badel Albelo, stated that this action was taken for safety reasons, rather than due to immediate threats.
The fire has impacted the vicinity of the Camino Hernández Canino, and efforts have been ongoing throughout the afternoon to manage the situation, which has been complicated by the presence of weeds.
Three patrols from the Local Police of La Laguna, one from Tacoronte, along with members of the Tenerife Fire Department equipped with five fire engines, have been active in the area. Additionally, four excavators, alongside two tanks from Teidagua and three from Urbaser, have been deployed to contain the fire until it was deemed under control.
The area is currently being cooled, and extinguishing operations are ongoing to ensure the safety of local residents.
