SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 14 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Alpheratz Maritime Rescue team successfully retrieved 63 migrants of sub-Saharan origin on Wednesday afternoon when they were situated approximately 65 kilometres (35 miles) southwest of Los Cristianos, in Tenerife, according to the official entity.
The rescue operation was initiated after the leisure vessel Sailaway spotted the canoe drifting, prompting the Tenerife Rescue Coordination Centre to deploy the rescue boat, which successfully brought aboard 63 sub-Saharan migrants at 6:40 p.m.
Among the rescued individuals were 57 men, five women, and one minor, all of whom received assistance from the health and security services upon disembarking in Los Cristianos.
