SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 14 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is seeking a ten-year prison term for an individual accused of attempting to murder his partner in Tenerife while a restraining order was in effect, following a conviction for violating a court order, three minor instances of threatening behaviour, and a charge of threats relating to domestic violence.

The document, reported by Europa Press, reveals that the defendant, showing “disdain” for the judicial decision, rekindled the romantic relationship with the victim though without living together. One day, during an altercation regarding her refusal to request the lifting of the restriction prohibiting him from coming within 500 metres of her, he assaulted her in her home in front of her two minor daughters.

The man “became infuriated,” according to the Prosecutor’s Office, and launched an attack on her with the intention of taking her life, exclaiming “I either do it or I don’t, I either do it or I don’t, yes, I will do it, I will kill you.”

He then seized her by the neck, threw her onto the bed, and attempted to suffocate her with a pillow as she kicked out in a bid to escape and cried out for assistance.

Hearing the commotion, the victim’s daughters emerged to find their mother and witnessed the man gripping her by the neck; despite their attempts to intervene, they too were targeted by the accused, with one of the girls suffering an injury when she collided with a door.

In light of this distressing situation, the minors called out to other residents of the building for help, prompting a woman to rush to the apartment, shout at the man to release the victim, and push him until she successfully disrupted his hold.

At that moment, the woman managed to escape with her daughters and sought refuge in another flat within the building.

Both the mother and her daughters sustained various injuries that necessitated several days of healing.

The incident was reported by the victim herself, and a court order resulted in provisional detention without bail for the accused.

The Prosecutor’s Office asserts that these actions amount to violations of a court order, attempted homicide, and bodily harm, requesting a ten-year prohibition against approaching the victim or contacting her, as well as an additional six months barring any contact with minors. They are also seeking compensation of €10,000 for the woman and an additional €720 as a fine, along with €60 for each day of healing required for the victims.

The trial is scheduled to take place next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
