The Cultural Board of the Arona City Council has organised a variety of activities as part of the ‘Santa Cecilia Week’. The Municipal School of Music and Dance of Arona (EMMDA) will play a central role in honouring the patron saint of music, with events scheduled to take place from November 16 to 22 in Los Cristianos, Las Galletas and Valle San Lorenzo.

Javier Baute, the Councilor for Culture at the Arona City Council, emphasised the significance of Santa Cecilia as the most important event for the Municipal School of Music and Dance. This year, with a focus on children, they will be able to partake in puppet shows, a drawing competition, and, undoubtedly, concerts. There will be one in Las Galletas and another in Los Cristianos. As always, we anticipate that family members and the wider public will come to experience the talents our municipal school has to offer, which deserves our full support.

The ‘Week’ will kick off this Saturday with a Guitar Meeting at the Valle San Lorenzo Cultural Centre featuring renowned soloists. The event is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The EMMDA will present two concerts. The first will take place on Thursday the 21st in Las Galletas, set to begin at 6:00 p.m. The following day, the performance will be held at the Plaza del Pescador in Los Cristianos (next to the Cultural Centre), at the same time.

Additionally, the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre will host two sessions of ‘Musical Minutes’. These performances are planned for the 18th and 20th, both commencing at 8:00 p.m.

The Aronera ‘Santa Cecilia Week’ will also feature other artistic expressions, with music at its core. Thus, the Initiation students of the Municipal School of Music and Dance of Arona will participate in a ‘Musical Drawings Contest’ on Monday the 21st, starting at 5:30 p.m. The following day, the spotlight will be on 1st Year students, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The ‘Puppet Afternoon’, intended for music and movement students, will be held in the courtyard of the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre, commencing at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20.
