SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9th Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Development Society, in collaboration with the district, has organised the Anaga Traditions Market, an event that forms part of the Enjoy in the Districts initiative aimed at safeguarding and promoting local customs and products.

The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, noted that those wishing to take part can do so free of charge until 12th November at 2:00 p.m.: “We hope this event showcases the efforts of all the artisans who dedicate themselves each day to maintaining our heritage.”

Bermúdez mentioned that after the selection of participants, Pedro Schwartz Avenue and Ramón Guillermo Cruz Cabrera Square, located in the San Andrés neighbourhood, will host this gathering on Saturday, 23rd November, “an occasion where our culture and traditions will undoubtedly be more relevant than ever.”

Additionally, the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, specified that the Market will feature an exhibition space for producers and artisans, as well as various engagement areas where activities for the whole family will be conducted, with particular emphasis on children through workshops, storytelling, and traditional games from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We are currently working to attract agri-food producers and artisans keen to showcase their goods at our market. While we are focusing on those whose activities are primarily based in the Anaga massif and coastline, we welcome all interested parties within our municipality,” she stated.

In particular, both individual entrepreneurs and legal entities involved in agriculture, beekeeping, craftsmanship, confectionery, floristry, viticulture, and other agri-food sectors, specifically their own products and/or processed goods, as well as businesses selling local items, may participate in the Market.

The Anaga Traditions Market is also strategically aligned with the Commerce Master Plan (axis 4, Promotion and Encouragement of Consumption) and the Strategic Tourism Plan (axis 3, Product and Marketing of the Destination). This event was conceived to raise awareness of the work done by artisans and producers from the Anaga region who create their goods traditionally, promoting the utilisation of local resources, encouraging local farming, and advocating for the use of kilometre zero products, thereby fostering sustainable consumption while spotlighting Anaga’s offerings.
