SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 7 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Parliament of the Canary Islands will convene a working group from the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies (CALRE) this Thursday to host a session focused on migration, aimed at highlighting the “migratory crisis” faced by the archipelago.

During a press conference, the president of the regional Chamber stated that last November it was agreed that the Canarian Parliament would lead the immigration working group to “bring attention to the immigration tragedy” affecting the archipelago. This Thursday’s gathering is in line with that “commitment.”

He noted that they will examine, among other issues, the Pact on Migration and Asylum and its subsequent regulatory developments, the treatment of minors and adults within the EU, and the provision of aid, which led Pérez to offer a “recognition” to the NGOs actively working to “deliver the best support,” as migrants “are individuals in vulnerable circumstances.”

“I believe this will be a day of high technical quality, and I hope it will foster valuable discussions regarding a matter of significant concern to us, which is immigration policy,” he commented.
