Alberto Rodríguez Slams Sumar for “Authoritarianism” Over Errejón Case Leak

The former deputy unleashes strong criticism, asserting that proposals for the Canarian agenda are “disregarded.”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE/MADRID, 7th Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The head of Drago Canarias and former congressional deputy, Alberto Rodríguez, has accused Sumar of “authoritarianism” and expressed that he learned from the media about severe allegations of gender-based violence against the former parliamentary spokesperson in Congress Íñigo Errejón.

Rodríguez articulated these sentiments in several comments on the social platform ‘X’, where he levies incisive criticisms against Sumar, the party with which Drago Canarias participated in the recent general elections as part of a coalition of fifteen leftist parties that included the PSOE.

He noted that Sumar “originated with claims that it was neither a centralist nor a partisan initiative, but a plurinational umbrella aimed at creating a broad front.” That rhetoric was significant, he argued, “yet it didn’t even persist for 24 hours post-election.”

“DISREGARD FOR PAPADLES”

“From that point onward? Authoritarianism, ignorance, and a blatant disregard,” he emphasised, criticising Sumar for not incorporating the Canary Islands in “any respect into the formulation of the Government programme,” nor in the establishment of the Executive.

He also remarked that Drago’s proposals concerning the Canary Islands are “blatantly” obstructed, “violating the electoral agreements.” “Not one of our submitted initiatives has been brought up for discussion, due to Sumar’s choice,” he elaborated.

CRITICISM WITHOUT REPORTING PODEMOS FOR TRANSFUGUISM

Conversely, he critiqued the failure to bring Podemos before the anti-transfuguism agreement following the split at the end of last year and the transition of the purple party into the Mixed Group, which he accuses of “undemocratically hijacking hundreds of thousands of votes, including those of over 50,000 Canarians.”

He further maintained that they were “never informed at any point regarding the very serious accusations” against Errejón. “We learned about it from the media,” he added.

Simultaneously, he highlighted that the “final straw” of this Sumar shift is “to blatantly illustrate that the agenda is dictated by the Canary Coalition.” “And all just to maintain their positions,” he chided.

In conclusion, he stated that the people of the Canary Islands are a “political entity in every respect,” deserving of “respect both within and outside” the islands, and that from a place of “empowerment and self-worth, they can engage in dialogue and achieve various agreements.”

“No betrayal of our people and our land will go unpunished, never again. We will see you in 2027 (or perhaps sooner),” he finalised.
