The union UGT has this Tuesday voiced concerns over the “precarious” working conditions experienced by home care staff in La Laguna due to the violations in public procurement.
In a released statement, UGT indicates that the local authority has delayed the announcement of the terms for contracting the home assistance service, attributing this to administrative issues.
This situation is causing a hold-up in the renewal of a contract that has already been expired since 2020.
This non-compliance is leading to “a state of insecurity both for the company providing services in the municipality, which has not seen its rates renewed properly, and for the employees of that company, who are not experiencing salary increases like their counterparts in the industry.”
