The Constitutional Court (TC) has acknowledged the entitlement of women to join the Slavery of Christ of La Laguna, the principal brotherhood in the locality and one of the most distinguished in the Canary Islands, which has historically barred female participation. This is conveyed in a statement from this judiciary body, which reached its decision following a protective appeal submitted by María Teresita Laborda, who has been striving since 2008 to gain admittance to this brotherhood.
