The Local Development Department of the La Laguna City Council, overseen by Domingo Galván, has introduced a new initiative offering free courses for the month of November, directed at unemployed locals. This training programme, which encompasses various sectors, aims to enhance participants’ skills and ease their entry into the job market.
“We are broadening our training in areas experiencing high demand, such as English and digital skills, as we recognise that these competencies are vital across nearly every employment sector nowadays,” stated the Councillor for Local Development, Domingo Galván, stressing that “these opportunities are both accessible and of high quality.” “Our objective is for each participant to find in these courses a resource for their professional and personal advancement,” he added.
Among the in-person courses offered, notable highlights include ‘School and Adapted Transport Companion’ (20 hours); ‘First Aid for Babies and Children’ (10 hours); and specialised courses such as ‘Waxing’ (18 hours) and ‘Personalisation of Clothing’ (30 hours). For those aiming to enhance their language proficiency, English courses at various levels are available, running from 25th November to February 2025.
The online programme features training in digital tools, including advanced Word 2016, Introduction to Excel 2016, and advanced Photoshop (40 hours); topics related to digital communication, like TikTok Marketing; as well as training on hygiene for buildings and facilities of water treatment and purification plants, key national tourist destinations, floral arrangements, communication with dependent individuals, and methods of collection and payment, among other subjects.
