The Icod de los Vinos Council will commemorate the departed in the town this Friday, November 1, with a refined selection of live music at the Municipal Cemetery, as part of the celebrations for All Saints and the Departed.

This initiative brings together memory, sentiment and culture through music and words within the city cemetery, a site that has been enhanced and renovated by the local authority, incorporating the garden areas that are integral to the location.

The ceremonies will commence at 10 a.m. on Friday with a traditional tribute by the San Juanito Cornet and Drum Band. Following this at 11 a.m., the Garachico Chamber Choir will take over. At midday, a Holy Mass will be held.

In the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., music in remembrance of those who have passed will be performed by the JM Cabrera Mejías Band from Icod de los Vinos. A second Holy Mass is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. The day’s events will conclude with a special tribute featuring the recital Filigree at 6:30 p.m.

For the Councillor for Cemeteries in Icod de los Vinos, Jorge González, this commemoration on November 1 “serves as a collective and shared remembrance, a means to openly show that we continue to hold them in our thoughts.” Moreover, González stresses that “The municipal cemetery has been painted and improved, as it should be a dignified space deserving of care.”.

Special opening hours for municipal cemeteries

The Icod de los Vinos Council has established special visiting hours for the cemeteries from now until Sunday, November 3. The Municipal Cemetery will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Vega Cemetery will be accessible from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until November 3. The mass at the Parish of La Vega will take place on November 1 at 4:00 p.m., with another mass scheduled in the same cemetery on the 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
