Santa Cruz concludes its new revitalisation campaign Enjoy the districts, which will run from November 16 to 30 across the five districts featuring commercial and culinary activities aimed at boosting the local economy in over 80 neighbourhoods that comprise the Chicharrero municipality.
Routes showcasing sandwiches, traditional markets, gastronomic fairs, and the established Plenilunio will form part of this “pioneering” initiative, as presented yesterday by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, alongside the respective district councillors and directors.
Bermúdez remarked, “This revitalisation effort distinguishes itself by encompassing all districts, as the aim is to make Santa Cruz an even more vibrant city in every nook and cranny.”
Carmen Pérez, the advisor of the Development Society, noted that “Santa Cruz is invigorated with new energy, leading to the creation of this innovative project, which transcends mere festivities and emphasises the importance of local commerce.”
The programme will kick off in November, beginning with the Southwest district hosting the Ruta del Bocadillazo, an initiative that seeks to promote the area’s gastronomic offerings through a route highlighting local produce.
On November 16, the Ofra-Costa Sur district, located behind the Los Príncipes Shopping Centre, will observe Commerce Day to stimulate economic activity, providing a platform for businesses to sell their goods and/or services at discounted prices.
“Participants can look forward to numerous opportunities in a festive and family-friendly environment, featuring various children’s entertainment activities, raffles, and parades,” the mayor emphasised. This event will take place in the parking area on Maestro Estany Street, where local businesses will showcase and sell their products.
In the Anaga district, the Traditions Market will be held on November 23 in San Andrés, where local crafts and food products will be displayed and sold, aiming to preserve and promote local traditions and produce. This activity will also include children’s workshops, storytelling sessions, and a magic show.
On November 30, the Salud-La Salle district will celebrate the Tapas and Wine Gastronomic Fair, providing a cultural and culinary experience. La Granja park will host this event, allowing attendees to sample a selection of wines from the island’s designated origins. Furthermore, there will be accompanying activities, including local gastronomy stalls and musical performances.
The Centre district will once again feature Plenilunio, an event that attained significant success in its recent edition, drawing thousands of visitors to the city centre.
