The Local Police of Candelaria, in partnership with the residents of the municipality, successfully averted a suicide attempt on the bridge on Frailes Dominicos Street yesterday, Sunday, as reported by the Villa de Candelaria City Council.
An alert was raised yesterday afternoon when a group of individuals spotted a person in danger contemplating jumping off the bridge. They promptly informed the Local Police, who dispatched two officers to the location.
Thanks to the swift action of the officers and the cooperation of the neighbours, who managed to engage in dialogue with the individual, it was possible to prevent the act. Shortly thereafter, a medical emergency team transported the individual to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital for specialised treatment.
The Candelaria City Council wishes to convey its appreciation to the Local Police for their professionalism and to the citizens whose rapid response and support were crucial in averting a tragic incident.
This occurrence underscores the significance of community involvement and the necessity of being vigilant to warning signs that may suggest someone is in a precarious situation.
