The Tenerife Island Water Council (CIATF) has given its specific approval to the pumping station for the wastewater treatment facility within the El Mojón Partial Plan, submitted on August 4 by the Arona City Council. This is a vital step for advancing development and granting construction permits over a land area of nearly one million square metres, as reported by the digital platform Sol del Sur.
This process is essential, as receiving the CIATF report will enable landowners to apply for building permits, contingent upon a positive assessment of the urban parks that have already been completed. The report will be made available for public scrutiny for three months.
The pumping station, which was established 15 years ago, is positioned adjacent to the boundary of the El Mojón Partial Plan Urbanisation, at the junction of Portazgo Street and Arenales Street, situated behind the Los Cristianos Municipal Sports Pavilion. It has successfully resolved flooding issues in Los Cristianos, an area which previously lacked a stormwater drainage system from Chayofita Avenue to approximately the Carmen church. This investment was largely financed by the Compensation Board of the El Mojón Partial Plan, amounting to nearly six million euros, while the remainder of the drainage network in central Los Cristianos was funded by the Arona City Council.
According to the CIATF report, “in relation to the evaluation of the Wastewater Pumping Station (EBAR) of the El Mojón Partial Plan, from the perspective of this Agency, the proposed actions are deemed coherent and compatible with island hydrological planning.”
The Urban Planning Councillor for Arona, Luis García, announced a few weeks ago that “the agreement between the El Mojón Compensation Board and the Arona City Council is being fulfilled and it is certain that construction permits will soon be granted.”
“We – García emphasised – are quite optimistic about the future of the El Mojón Partial Plan, which has been under an agreement that the Compensation Board and the City Council have adhered to for the past year. We have consistently followed this path and are pleased with the progress made in the last year,” he stated.
