The two companies providing the electric scooter rental service in the municipality, Tier and Dott, logged 12,404 journeys in September, a figure that also illustrates that the adherence to designated parking for personal mobility vehicles (VMP) surpasses 94%.
The Councillor for Mobility, Evelyn Alonso, reminds residents that the City Council offers this service at no cost. To utilise it, locals can hire Tier scooters at no charge by submitting a request through the help centre chatbot available within the app. The company specifies that the user needs to select the ‘My account’ option and then navigate to the ‘Discount for Tenerife Residents’ section.
In terms of requirements, the application must include proof of residence, national ID (DNI), and a selfie as an extra verification measure, indicating the city from which the application is being made. The company’s team examines each request, and its validation is crucial to avoid mistakes and ensure precision in the discount application. Consequently, if the application meets all conditions, the discount is automatically credited to the user’s account.
On the other hand, Dott stipulates that to secure the resident discount, the initial step is to complete the user’s personal information via the link: https://ridedott.retool.com/p/my-application-tenerife. After submitting the form, if the DNI is located in the company’s database provided by the city council, the discount code will be sent via email associated with the user account within a span of 48 to 72 hours.
Upon receiving the code, the user must enter the Dott app and navigate to the Promotions section to input the code sent to their email. Nevertheless, the company points out that the discount does not exempt individuals from incurring a penalty for failing to park in a designated space or not adhering to traffic regulations.
Regarding the statistics of trips and usage of the scooters, Dott confirms that in Santa Cruz, there were “a total of 2,028 active users, leading to 4,081 trips, with parking compliance at 92.42%.” Meanwhile, Tier reports that in September, it recorded “2,582 users, including 879 newcomers and 1,703 active users, with a total of 8,413 trips and parking compliance of 94.39 percent.”
