Eight Drug Dealers in Tenerife’s Hostess Club Face 21-Year Prison Sentences

The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has sentenced eight individuals who admitted to facilitating the supply of cocaine and hashish at a hostess club in La Laguna to a cumulative imprisonment of 21 years.

The offenders will serve sentences that vary from a maximum of three years and two months to a minimum of two years along with a fine of €19.2 million.

The total worth of the narcotics confiscated from the residences of the defendants was nearly €2 million, and €53,000 was also discovered in their possession.

During the hearing, it was decided to suspend the imprisonment of three of the convicted individuals provided they do not engage in any criminal activity for a period of three years.

One of the defendants was the proprietor of a hostess club situated on El Púlpito mountain in La Laguna, and two other accused were employed there, while an additional two had been using the establishment to traffic cocaine and hashish since at least August 2022.

In fact, numerous clients visited the establishment to procure these substances and would leave afterwards, while others chose to remain on the premises. Drugs were likewise supplied to women engaged in prostitution.

Two of the accused routinely delivered the substances to the club based on demand after contacting each other via phone, and other group members took charge of distributing them.

On August 9, a surveillance operation detected an individual in possession of a gram of cocaine with an 82% purity level, which he had purchased from one of the accused. Agents subsequently entered the home of this individual, where they discovered €40,000.

In November, another raid was conducted at the residence of one of the defendants residing in La Laguna, where 11 grams of cocaine were confiscated. Shortly thereafter, a follow-up raid uncovered significant quantities of hashish with varying purities as well as over 500 grams of cocaine.

In one further search, this time in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, several kilos of cannabis were seized and, ultimately, in another property, the occupants were found dealing hashish for sale valued at €37,000.

Five of the defendants were subsequently remanded in custody until the trial, which resulted in this ruling.
