La Laguna commemorates the Day of the Dead and All Saints by once more featuring musical performances across all the cemeteries in the municipality. Due to the significant number of visitors anticipated during this period, the cemeteries will extend their opening hours. Attendees will gather at the cemeteries located in various districts of the area.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, highlights the excellent reception this musical initiative has received in past years, stating, “This has transformed the event into a distinguishing feature of the Laguna cemeteries on a day that holds deep significance for the local residents.” Cristina Ledesma, the councillor in charge of Cemeteries, echoed this sentiment, noting that the performances will be delivered by ensembles consisting of members from the various musical bands based in La Laguna.
From Monday, October 28, to Sunday, November 3, the cemeteries of San Luis, San Juan, San Gregorio in Punta del Hidalgo, Valle de Guerra, and Tejina will remain open continuously from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Special hours will apply on October 31 and November 1, when the facilities will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Different musical groups will provide the atmosphere with performances on November 1, throughout both the morning and afternoon, at the various cemeteries.
The schedule for masses in the three cemeteries of the Northeast Region (Punta del Hidalgo, Tejina, and Valle de Guerra) will take place on November 1 at 5:00 p.m., with a second mass on November 2 at 12:00 p.m. in Valle de Guerra cemetery. The mass at San Juan cemetery will be held on November 2 at 4:00 p.m., while San Luis cemetery will host its mass on the same day, November 2, at 10:00 a.m.
