This Friday, the 700 Santa Cruz de Tenerife Consumer Vouchers intended for Sunday’s sale were completely sold out within two minutes. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez announced this, stating, “This Friday marks the final day in October for this initiative, which has once again been embraced enthusiastically by the public. We anticipate that the two weekends in November, when we will repeat this scheme, will have sales times equal to or even surpassing those of these vouchers.”
Carmen Pérez, the CEO of the Development Society, noted, “The 700 vouchers available today signify an influx of 17,500 euros for the 66 businesses involved in this initiative.” She added, “These Sunday Consumer Vouchers are priced at 7.50 euros, allowing for purchases of up to 25 euros, which is an appealing offer for the 354 individuals who managed to buy these vouchers, as well as an incentive for all local businesses.”
This weekend, the ‘Hello, Sunday’ initiative coincides with various revitalisation activities, including the Avengers parades, which will traverse the main streets of the capital with one parade at 11:00 a.m. and another at 1:00 p.m. Additionally, comic aficionados can visit the Carta Palace from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to enjoy the Comic Show exhibition showcasing comics themed around death, offering different perspectives, with humour as a central theme.
Santa Cruz Cómic will commence at 11:00 a.m. with the discussion titled “Comic in Spain. A Blocked Medium,” led by Manuel Barrero from Tebeosfera. Following this, at 12:00 p.m., there will be a presentation of the book “Desmemorias de una magazine satírica” by José Luis Martín, and at 1:00 p.m., the comic “Burrow” by Moño will be presented. All these events will feature guest authors and will occur at the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts. The final signing session will happen in the Plaza del Príncipe at 1:00 p.m., where a substantial Artist Alley will host over 70 artists from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This edition of Santa Cruz Cómic, co-organised by the Cine+Cómics Foundation and the Moebius Cultural Chair of the University of La Laguna, receives sponsorship from the Santa Cruz City Council.
The “Hello, Sunday” initiative emerged from a participatory process, involving consultations with the sector. It is a collaborative project founded on governance, inter-administrative, and institutional cooperation to support the sector, aimed at fostering new strategies for economic and commercial growth in Santa Cruz. This initiative is aligned with the Commerce Master Plan (axis 4: Dynamisation and promotion of consumption) and the city’s Strategic Tourism Plan (axis 3: Product and destination marketing).
