The City Council of La Laguna, via the Department of Works and Infrastructure, will establish two new parking areas, one located at number 9 Avenida La Libertad, adjacent to the service station between Calle El Cristo and Avenida Los Majuelos, while the other will be sited on a plot situated between La Marea and El Acantilado streets in the coastal region of Bajamar.
The site in Los Majuelos, which is owned by the municipality, will increase the number of parking slots in the vicinity to over 100, occupying nearly 3,000 square metres of land. The Bajamar location will introduce 110 new parking spaces to the coastal area, along with enhancements to the environment featuring a new line of large trees aimed at improving the existing greenery in the locale. In the northern section of this parking area, a decorative fence will be installed to separate the lot from the residential homes and create an additional space intended for recreational uses.
🅿️ We continue creating parking spaces and responding to this citizen demand ✅. In total there will be more than 200 new places, 100 in Los Majuelos and 110 in Bajamar.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, emphasises that “these newly established parking areas will benefit residents of both regions, as well as local businesses. Furthermore, the Los Majuelos parking facility will aid in alleviating congestion on match days in La Laguna Tenerife and during events at the Santiago Martín pavilion.” He further asserts that with this new provision, “we aim to meet community requests while continuing our efforts to promote public transport.”
The mayor of Works and Infrastructure, Ángel Chinea, elaborates that the budget for both projects totals 72,346 euros (38,642 euros for the Los Majuelos space and 33,704 euros for the Bajamar space). This includes “the preparation of both plots by removing existing obstacles that hinder their use, followed by surface milling.” He also notes that both parking lots will be fitted with lighting, and the spaces will be planned to maximise usage of the two plots, he concludes.
In addition to these planned parking areas, further spaces are in the final stages of preparation on Seña Nicasia Street, adjacent to Camino La Rúa. In this 6,000 square metre plot bordering the Vía de Ronda, an additional 300 spaces are anticipated. The milling of this plot has already been completed and slope stabilization is underway, with the Works department forecasting that the parking facility could be available for use by November.
Chinea highlights that the City Council aims to create up to 7,000 new parking spaces throughout the municipality during this term, a goal which is progressing well thanks to the recent openings of parking locations such as the one behind the Market and those established in the citizen centres of San Bartolomé de Geneto and San Miguel de Geneto, along La Hornera road, Vallehermoso avenue, Milan avenue (Tejina), the Los Baldíos citizen centre, and La Villa road.
