A collective of families, impacted by the “intermittent” shutdown of the children’s and youth section of the Public Library of the State of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Casa de la Cultura), has declared their intention to mobilise in order to demand “a resolution to this issue,” which they assert is caused by “a shortage of staff” and that the institution itself “has been requesting for years.”
In their statement, they highlight that it has remained closed for “nearly three weeks” and that “the most impacted have been the boys, girls, and youths who rely on it for various purposes: academics, workshops, and children’s and familial activities, as well as the joy of reading.”
Consequently, they indicate that “numerous” families will partake in a demonstration in front of the Public Library of the State of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on October 30 at 6:00 p.m.
