Families in Tenerife with children aged under three will be able to apply for the ‘Daycare Check’ starting this Saturday, 26th October, until 25th November 2024. This initiative offers financial aid of up to 800 euros from the Cabildo of Tenerife to support the early education phase in childcare centres.
The financial support covers crucial expenses such as tuition fees, childcare, hygiene, meals, and school uniforms. It also provides families with the freedom to select their preferred childcare centre based on individual needs.
For this round, the organisation has allocated a budget of 1.2 million euros, which is expected to assist over 1,500 families on the island.
“The primary aim is to facilitate a better work-life balance by alleviating the financial pressures on families, enabling parents to pursue their careers while ensuring their children receive essential care,” stated the island’s president, Rosa Dávila.
In this regard, she highlighted that the initiative promotes gender equality, “as a significant proportion of leave taken for family responsibilities is requested by women.”
