The leader of the Socialist Group in the Tenerife Cabildo, Pedro Martín, has today urged the council to initiate the resurfacing of the North and South motorways, TF-5 and TF-1. These routes “have not received thorough maintenance for over a year, evident in numerous sections showing signs of wear and patching.”
The appeal from the Tenerife socialists also encompasses various main roads under the Cabildo’s jurisdiction, which connect municipalities and facilities across the Island. The party claims there has been noticeable neglect affecting thousands of drivers.
“Regarding the motorways, it is important to note that, in certain sections, they accommodate traffic exceeding 100,000 vehicles daily. Since no measures have been implemented to address the congestion in the last 90 days or even a year later, we expect the president to at least prioritise the resurfacing of Tenerife’s two primary road arteries,” stated the leader of the Socialist Group.
Pedro Martín reminded that during the previous administration, over 25 million euros were allocated for the resurfacing of the two motorways within a single year, a contrast to the current situation of neglect, particularly in severely worn sections.
