The historic centre of La Laguna is set to host on Thursday, 31 October a new edition of the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walk, a pre-festival event designed for audiences of all ages, organised by the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival City of La Laguna, with support from the La Laguna City Council, through its Culture department.
The zombie parade has become a staple among the locals in La Laguna and attracts visitors from neighbouring towns as part of the All Saints’ Eve, Halloween celebrations.
The popular host and reporter Baby Solano will serve as the master of ceremonies for this fifth edition of the zombie gathering, which will also feature the band Crearte Unión Musical de Tejina, the troupe Los Joroperos, and the Ballet Dance Group.
Festivities will kick off at 5:00 p.m. in Adelantado Square in La Laguna, where tents will be set up to offer free makeup to the public, alongside a gastronomic space hosting food trucks.
This will mark the starting point for the “Zombie march”, which will commence at 8:00 p.m. and will follow a route to Plaza de la Concepción via Obispo Rey Redondo Street, before returning to the starting point along Herradores Street.
Following the parade, outstanding participants will be recognised on the Plaza del Adelantado stage in three categories: Best Zombie (costume), Best Walker (performance), and Best Group.
The inaugural editions of the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walk occurred in 2018 and 2019, and the event made a comeback in 2022, after the pandemic, achieving great success. This year, it returns for Halloween as part of the parallel activities programme for the Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, which will take place from 8 to 17 November.
‘The Sixth Sense’
This Saturday, 19 October, Multicines Tenerife, the screening venue for the Isla Calavera Festival, will feature a special screening of the horror classic directed by M. Night Shyamalan, The Sixth Sense, which premiered in American cinemas on 6 August 1999, marking 25 years since its release.
During this pre-festival event, a discussion about the film will take place, along with the announcement of new guests joining the already revealed lineup of stars who will visit Tenerife in November, including actors Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk), actresses Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog) and Tami Stronach (The Neverending Story), and director Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 2003).
