A canoe carrying 183 migrants was rescued on Thursday afternoon in the waters near El Hierro by the Guardamar Talía, which subsequently transported them to the port of La Restinga, where health services assessed their condition and confirmed that they were generally well.
Since the early hours of Thursday, the Canary Islands have seen a total of six vessels with nearly 500 migrants arrive, of which El Hierro alone recorded 357 individuals on two cayucos.
In Lanzarote, the Salvamar Nair brought ashore 58 individuals at Puerto Naos (Arrecife) who had been travelling in an inflatable boat. Another vessel, with two migrants on board, was towed to the dock, while an additional canoe arrived in Tenerife with 57 people and another inflatable boat reached Gran Canaria with three others.
