SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Officers from the Civil Guard’s Nature Protection Service (Seprona), in conjunction with the Civil Guard’s Cynological Service, have uncovered a total of 52 kilograms of illegal phytosanitary products at a company engaged in the cultivation of vegetables and aromatic plants intended for human consumption in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona.
Throughout the operation, it was observed that the illegal products were housed in sheds across various agricultural plots. Additionally, four activated cage traps were detected in the vicinity of the crops; these were also confiscated due to the absence of the requisite authorisation from the Cabildo de Tenerife for their usage.
Cages are typically utilised to safeguard crops from harmful animal species. However, as they do not discriminate against the type of animal that can be captured, it is essential to possess the aforementioned authorisation to safeguard certain protected species from potential harm that may arise from their use, noted the Civil Guard in a statement.
Furthermore, the officers also discovered a compressed air weapon within the company, stored inside a construction-type container, which lacked the necessary documentation issued by the municipal authority.
