This Thursday marked the official unveiling of the Kings & Queens League finals, scheduled to take place on December 21 at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. Gerard Piqué, the competition’s president, introduced the event in the plaza outside the Auditorium, where he also revealed the first confirmed artists for what promises to be a momentous day.
Among the performers who will energise the occasion are La La Love You and local Tenerife artist Maikel Delacalle. Delacalle, who has shared the stage with the former football star, expressed his excitement about participating in the event: “I will be here to give them the love they deserve,” he affirmed. Piqué, on his part, expressed gratitude for having local talent and encouraged Maikel to “put on a good show” at the stadium.
Delacalle took the opportunity to reference the climate of the Canary Islands: “Even if it seems like the weather will be poor when you land at Los Rodeos, you really don’t need to bring a coat,” he remarked with a grin. He also disclosed that he has been a Barcelona supporter since childhood and requested Piqué to share a story “with a little Maikel theme,” which resulted in laughter from those present.
A “little party”
The Kings & Queens League not only aims to deliver football and thrill, but also a musical spectacle in which guest artists will lend their talents to create a festive ambiance that will engulf Tenerife during the finals, drawing in thousands of fans.
The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the island institution’s vice president, Lope Afonso, joined Gerard Piqué during the official presentation, which attracted a significant audience.
