This Saturday, World Breast Cancer Day, will be marked by emotion, solidarity, and gratitude during the awards ceremony organised by the Carrera por la Vida Foundation. The gala is set to commence at 7:30 p.m. in the Infanta Leonor auditorium in Los Cristianos, and it will reflect on the actions taken throughout this year as well as present the challenges ahead for 2025, a significant year as Race for Life will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
For the second consecutive year, recognition will be given to the support received from institutions, groups, businesses, and individuals that have facilitated the foundation’s initiatives and enhanced the quality of life for those affected by breast cancer.
This year’s edition will honour several entities, including the Tenerife Master club, Canarias Aloe Vera farm company, Abona Women’s Association, FERO Foundation, and INVI Association, all under the leadership of Brigitte Gypen.
The Tenerife Master club will be acknowledged for its exemplary commitment to inclusion, having promoted the Swim for Life initiative since 2013 aimed at patients facing this condition. The Canarias farm is celebrated for its close-knit family commitment to the Carrera por la Vida projects, and for its significant role in the Dakar for Life project.
Another honouree, the Abona Women’s Association, boasts over 25 years of service, initially supported by Arico, aimed at assisting individuals with breast cancer. The foundation commends the hundred women within this association as a benchmark in the community and for their dedication to wellbeing and development.
In terms of research, the FERO Foundation will be honoured for its medical progress in enhancing knowledge and improving cancer treatment. Meanwhile, the INVI Association will receive the award in the Social Action category, being the first organisation in Spain to consistently advocate for men with breast cancer and shine a light on their previously overlooked plight. Supported by the Arona City Council, the gala promises to be a night filled with emotion.
