SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife is collaborating with a new edition of the International Festival of Independent and Authored Film of the Canary Islands (Ficindie), which will take place until 29th October.
This was announced at a press briefing held this Tuesday in the Noble Hall of the island’s governing body, attended by the Minister of Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa, along with Cristóbal de la Rosa, the general director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries for the Government of the Canary Islands; Rumen Justo Reyes, the festival director; Luis Ortigosa, president of the alumni association of the University of La Laguna, Alumni; and Jorge Rivero, director of the CIFP César Manrique.
The festival also receives support from the La Laguna City Council.
Serafín Mesa expressed that the Youth and Training area is “very pleased” to endorse this festival, noting that the Youth Information Centre will serve as a venue where the films can be enjoyed for the first time.
Cristóbal de la Rosa extended his gratitude to the Cabildo of Tenerife for the support it continuously provides in terms of innovation, culture, and youth. He commented that “independent cinema offers remarkable freedom in terms of format selection and allows for the exploration of highly creative content.”
Rumen Justo Reyes emphasised that the festival will celebrate independent and authored cinema, featuring over one hundred professionals from the sector who will collaborate and create synergies within the Canary Islands.
“We will present a rich and varied programme, including screenings, ‘indie labs’, discussions, and special events that will showcase the creativity and diversity of independent cinema. We are thrilled to witness the festival’s growth each year and to have steadfast support from the Island Council of Tenerife, the City Council of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Alumni ULL, and the Government of the Canary Islands (ICDC),” he noted.
In turn, Luis Ortigosa claimed that the festival will be “a tremendous success,” recalling that one of the alumni association’s goals is to “support all cultural exhibitions.”
