SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Canary Islands Government has announced the permanent opening of six new lists for temporary teaching staff in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) this Monday.
Specifically, these include the areas of Music, Administrative Management Processes, Electronic Equipment, Installation and Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Equipment, Machining and Maintenance of Machines, as well as French at the Official Language School (EOI). Interested candidates will be able to apply starting from this Tuesday indefinitely via the electronic portal of the department overseen by Poli Suárez.
This initiative, which was first introduced in the Canary Islands last year targeted at occupations experiencing significant shortages, seeks to “streamline the process of filling in for non-university teaching staff,” as stated by Mónica Ramírez, the general director of Personnel and Teacher Training.
The general director also emphasised that recent calls for creating or expanding employment lists “had highlighted the challenges of properly addressing absences in certain specialisations, necessitating the promotion of mechanisms like this one that would enable us to align the appointment procedure with the actual needs of the system.”
This initiative is backed by the Order of August 9, 2021, and the Resolution of February 15, 2024. The former outlines the process for the establishment, organisation, updating, and functioning of employment lists for the appointment of temporary teaching staff within the non-university education sector of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, stating in article 6.1., that if there are no employment lists or if no selection tests have been established for civil servant entry, extraordinary calls may be made for access to these lists, thereby creating a new list or expanding the existing ones.
Furthermore, the resolution of February 15 delineated the process for accessing open employment lists for appointing interim teaching staff in non-university education, which includes fulfilling a number of prerequisites such as possessing pedagogical training and specific qualifications relevant to each specialisation. This is in accordance with the Order of May 5, 2018, from the Ministry of Education and Universities, which specifies the academic qualifications required for the inclusion of personnel on the employment lists for temporary placement in vacant positions and substitutes for non-university teachers within the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
