The Granadilla de Abona Town Council has urged visitors of the main beach at El Médano and Leocadio Machado to exercise caution this Sunday following the discovery of blue dragon, a marine mollusc that can inflict serious skin irritations.
Through its social media channels, the local government has announced that, in light of this, it has opted to supplement the existing yellow flag in both coastal regions with a purple flag due to the presence of hazardous marine life.
The blue dragon is a visually striking marine mollusc known for its toxic properties that can result in significant skin irritations and allergic responses upon contact.
Therefore, the Town Council advises against entering the beach and encourages adherence to all guidance provided by the authorities, who will communicate when it is once again safe to enjoy this area.
