Tragic Drowning Incident at La Arenita Beach Claims a Life

A man has tragically passed away after drowning at La Arenita beach, located in the El Palmar region of Arona (Tenerife), as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of 112 in the Canary Islands.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, when 112 received a notification indicating that two individuals required assistance in the water, one was found floating face down, while the other was struggling to exit the water.

Firefighters from Tenerife promptly arrived at the scene, managing to rescue the man who was floating in the water. Upon confirming he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, they initiated resuscitation efforts on him.

Subsequently, personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), along with a doctor and nurse from the Los Cristianos Health Centre, continued to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, but unfortunately were unable to revive him, ultimately confirming his death.

In contrast, the second victim emerged unscathed and managed to reach the shore independently; however, the SUC activated the Psychological Support Team from the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to provide assistance.

Local police also arrived at the incident site to assist other emergency services, including the Helimer Maritime Rescue helicopter and personnel from the Beach Rescue Service. Meanwhile, Civil Guard officers undertook the appropriate proceedings.
