SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tenerife has successfully wrapped up its participation in the 26th edition of San Sebastián Gastronomika, attracting a significant number of visitors to its 200 square metre stand-restaurant, while also gaining both national and international acclaim for its culinary offerings and renowned local produce.
This was articulated by the Vice President of the Cabildo de Tenerife and Tourism Minister, Lope Afonso, who emphasised that celebrated chefs, including Joan Roca, Martin Berasategui, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Eneko Atxa, Elena Arzak, Oriol Castro, Eduard, along with numerous national and international media outlets such as El País, ABC, 7caníbales, Catalunya Ràdio, and Corriere della Sera, visited the Tenerife stand-restaurant.
The event provided the island with an opportunity to exhibit the quality of its produce, cuisine, and wines to upwards of 700 professionals, including journalists, influencers, critics, chefs, and entrepreneurs, who engaged with both the Island’s stand and the Túnel del Vino. This last feature offered over 5,500 personalised tastings from more than 40 selections from various wineries across the six DOs of Tenerife.
The statistics from the congress mirror last year’s successes, with 14,780 participants representing 48 different nationalities and 1,339 delegates present in the auditorium. Some of these attendees had the opportunity to sample more than 10,000 tastings served. Furthermore, the tent that hosted the 1st Forum of Taverns and Taberneros, sponsored by Tenerife, was completely filled, with over 500 individuals occupying the 70 available seats throughout its two days.
Tenerife’s prominence was highlighted during the Grand Opening Dinner of the congress, the Grand Tasting of ‘exciting’ Tenerife wines, sponsorship of the I Forum of Taverns and Taberneros, a presentation by Juan Carlos Padrón in the Auditorium, and a finalist presence (Víctor Suárez) in the I Fish Soup Championship, reinforcing Tenerife’s status as the focal point of the congress.
“Record achievements for both Tenerife and the event itself in this 26th edition of San Sebastián Gastronomika. The stand activities attracted over 700 participants and more than 5,500 tastings were enjoyed in the Tenerife Wine Tunnel,” noted the Vice President and Tourism Advisor, Lope Afonso.
