SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Maritime Rescue helicopter, known as Helimer, retrieved a foreign national who had been swimming this Tuesday afternoon, exhibiting signs of drowning near the natural pool of Charco de Isla Cangrejo, located in Los Gigantes, within the municipality of Santiago del Teide (Tenerife), as reported by the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre 112.
The operation unfolded following alerts regarding two swimmers in distress; however, one individual, a woman, managed to extricate herself and received assistance from the Tenerife Firefighters until the arrival of the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), who assessed her condition and provided treatment for minor abrasions, although she did not require transport to a medical facility.
Conversely, the male swimmer was transported to Tenerife South airport, where he received care from an ambulance belonging to the SUC and was subsequently admitted to Hospiten Sur University Hospital with indications of drowning.
Both the Local Police and the Civil Guard were also involved in managing the situation and completed the necessary reports.
